Love

1 Corinthians 13:4-5: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”

I often think about how my soul feels connected to someone else’s, how our bond is incredibly strong and continues to grow and flourish, how my feelings are unlike anything I have felt for someone before, and yet there is no way I could possibly explain how I am feeling. Love, a four letter word, short in length, limitless in capacity. The other day at church, one of our pastors cited God’s definition of love in the Bible, and it is one that I have seen before. It make me realize… although I love, my love is more imperfect than I realize, and God’s love is more pure than anything. As imperfect human beings, we experience envy, at times we boast, pride does toy with us, and we have all hurt someone, we have looked out for our own good, have been angered, and even though we may forgive someone, we don’t forget. God, however, loves with all of his might. We can only strive to love like he does, and develop our own character to be more like his. Progress, not perfection. As I embrace my relationship, filled with love, this verse helps me to realize what I must always try to do:

Be grateful, not envious;

Let my inner light shine bright through my character, appreciate what I have, but do not brag as a way to feel better about myself;

Be humble and be willing to fail; don’t let pride get in the way of the occurance of great things and spreading love and God’s word;

Honor those around me and show gratitude; love those around me near and far;

Remember that I am a speck in the universe, and God is almighty; he has created all of this to heighten our faith and love and bring us closer to Him; do not get caught up in earthly things, maintain my focus on Him and being an ambassador of His word;

Keep calm in the face of adversity, and know that He is in all things and is always with me, in my heart, He created me and will always surround me;

Know that he sees progression, not perfection, for we can never achieve perfection and must not measure our faith and connectedness with God by the earthly laws; He forgives us for sins when there is true remorse, He leads us to righteousness, He loves to see us move in the right direction, the Heavenly path illuminated with his love.

When I say I love you to my special person, I can’t put into words what I am feeling.

When God says He loves us, it is more than we could ever imagine, more than we could ever feel for someone else. Seeing how much love and adoration I have in my heart for my boyfriend, it is leading me to think about how much more God loves us, more than any human in the universe could ever comprehend, and how incredible that is.

I love His love, and I am grateful for the love that He placed in my heart.

Amen

An Aura of Communication

A smile that lights up my life and eyes that gaze into my soul, I’m speechless. Language is such a wonderful method of communication, but this man made system lacks the ability of expressing the emotions, thoughts, desires and perceptions that God has blessed us with and instilled in our hearts. Much more than speech, far more intricate and saturated, the way that we feel and communicate without words is infinitely more powerful. A single word is a hollow statement in comparison to the aura of emotion in which I feel.

Each breath, slow and deliberate, I take in the blessings around me. I feel the air tracing the walls of my lungs, filling them up with life and hope, inhaling the positive intentions I have set for myself, the love that is shown to me, and exhaling any lingering fears that may exist. Just as the leaves blow in the wind, held securely to their rooted tree, my heart beats along with the breeze of nature, held securely to my faith and love for the Lord who created us.

Every breath that we take, every moment that we share, should be purposeful. We are all here for a reason, and it is up to us to unravel the pieces covering the image that God has painted on our heart, and see what plan he has in store for us.

His Love

The magic that fills the universe, the love and compassion of our Father, it runs through our entire being. Supporting us through our triumphs and hardships, assisting us in our life mission, we are protected, appreciated, loved and encouraged. My world has been altered, my state of consciousness is beaming, radiating love and gratitude and a sense of wholeness that I did not know was possible. The presence of love has tapped into pieces of me that were waiting to be uncovered. My heart, my soul, my aura, all expanding, reaching outward and filling the space around me. We all can attain self fulfillment on a personal level, but when the Lord sends you your soulmate, someone who understands you and makes you feel like your world was incomplete until they entered your life, things shift and a new transformation begins. I feel myself growing, blossoming into a person so full of love, a person who wants to grow stronger in my faith, who wants to show compassion on an entirely new level and imprint the lives of those around me, showing them love through my actions, near and far. I want to freely speak about my faith, and strengthen the roots that hold me close to Him. I pray for the world to experience love, for every individual to feel loved and give love, as it will be the only way to truly achieve peace on earth.

Spread the message of the Lord, speak of his love, and pray for all hearts to be filled with love, joy and emotional prosperity. We all deserve it. No matter what our story is, true forgiveness and a new today is also a wonderful new beginning.

From Far Away

From far away galaxies, to the fibers of your own being, matter exists. Energy is in everything, every piece of matter in existence. Have you ever noticed your intuition alerting you when someone just doesn’t seem right? Or that gut feeling when you know you shouldn’t walk a certain way? Does your heart expand with love and gratitude the second you walk in the door after work and you see your dog going wild when they see you? We have an unsurmountable ability to notice and feel the energy that others give off, as long as we are open and accepting. Many times, people write off things as coincidence, or a weird feeling and think nothing more; however, I’ve come to learn that nothing is by coincidence. There is synchronicity in life, and it is ever apparent. The beauty of this blooms once you acknowledge it. It is at that point that it feels as if the stars have aligned, and pieces begin filling in together. Be aware of the bountiful gifts of the earth, open your heart and mind to the rhythm of life, and allow the vibrations of your own energy to increase and expand to the loving earth and its inhabitants.

You are made of up of matter. Everyone and everything is made up of matter.

We all matter.

Breathe

Breathing is an art, and the sweet scent that escapes your breath is a medium. The rhythm of your heart dancing through your veins, the drum-like beat giving proof to your existence. Blue auras surrounding the intuitive, archangels close by. Believing in the energy that surrounds us, as well as that which emanates from within.

Living purposefully and feeling the presence of the earth around me; I am alive.

What’s Your Vision?

Sometimes I think about blogging, but I don’t feel inspired to write anything. Then, the thought passes and before I know it, months have passed without a single post! I love writing, I enjoy reading the words and thoughts that I layout on the screen, yet getting to that point sometimes takes quite a bit of time.

Why, though?

Hesitation. Fear. Lackluster attitude.

How many unforeseeable great pieces of writing never had the opportunity to navigate their way out of my thoughts and onto the keys? Makes me wonder! And it makes me realize. I. Need. To. Write!!

I read a quote this evening by Jane Yolen:

“Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it is only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up.”

How stinking true! This doesn’t only apply to writing. If there is something that you want to become better at, you need to work on it daily. I have the tendency to let “motivation” get me started, the feeling of excitement carry me along, and then like the shifts of the tides, I lose my “passion” for a period of time and remain stagnant. At times, even regress. That’s where I’ve learned something. Motivation is such a shallow word. We give it too much power, and then blame our “lack of motivation” for our failures, as if we were not able to accomplish anything without it. However, what I’ve realized is that the initial idea of wanting change is easy ::cue motivation:: but the act of pursuing that change, day after day, and continuously putting in effort even when you don’t feel like it, or when you experience hiccups along the way – that is all you, Love! Yup. It’s the truth. Motivation isn’t doing the work. YOU ARE. Motivation isn’t the thing picking up that pen, lifting those weights, reading those books, cleaning that house. It’s. All. You. I know this because you can accomplish all of those things even when you are not motivated. That brings me to my next point. How much do you actually want change? It’s one thing to say, “I want to write a book.” and “I want to get back in shape.”, but it’s an entirely different thing to fully immerse yourself into the lifestyle that will achieve he results you want. I should know. I’ve been wanting to write that book for roughly 6 years now. 😉

My gratitude for being alive was often masked by my tendency to take certain things for granted. So what will center my thinking and keep me going? Perspective. How you see the world, and how you see yourself, is everything in my opinion. It is what will bring you joy, empathy, compassion and drive. Have a vision, and live it everyday.

Love and Blessings,

AJ

I am Me

It is quite easy to get caught up in the routine of everyday life. You grab your purse, lock the front door and get into your car, not even aware that you walked by a feather in the grass, a cardinal propped in a tree, a string of water-beaded silk, delicately hanging from an awning. Perhaps all you are thinking about is the workday ahead, the fact that it’s only Monday and you’re exhausted. Well, I ask you this. Have you taken time to sit and simply be? Have you taken your shoes off and let your toes sink into the grassy earth? Have you relaxed by the ocean and listened to the tide roll in? Have you laid under a tree and looked up at the clouds? The birds? The leaves blowing in the wind? Have you lived as a child? Adulthood comes with an increase in responsibility, there is no denying that; however, inner peace is a necessary component to happiness. How can one find inner peace when they are so caught up in the outer turmoil that acts as a constant distraction? There comes a point when you must let go, and let God.

Above all else, there has been one constant in my life, and that has been the blessing of being God’s child. He has painted a wonderful picture on my heart, and as I grow, as I prosper, I unravel the layers covering up that image. The past decade alone has allowed light to shine through, even in the the most unsuspecting times. My abilities have expanded, my heart has grown, my passion has intensified, and my purpose has been revealed.

I am a teacher.

I am a writer.

I am a creative being with eyes open to seeing the world that surrounds me.

I am me.

A New Season

My writing was recently acknowledged at a neighboring town’s writing contest at their public library. I write for me, but it feels wonderful to receive Honorable Mention for a piece that is so close to my heart. The real adventure will be reading it aloud in front of an audience. 😉. New chapters in life bring about new experiences, new acquaintances, and if you’re lucky, new friends who will add value and substance to your already beautiful life; and with that, I present to you, A New Season.

With each new season, comes an inevitable accompaniment of emotions.  Leaves fall, feathering through the air as they gently glide toward their next destination.  While the detachment from the tree is symbolic of letting go of the old, shedding what once was, and waiting in anticipation of what is yet to come, I can’t help but notice the beauty in [this leaf], caught so delicately by the resting fence.  It appears as though a loving hand placed it. The bead of water hugs the stem, giving it comfort, letting it know that while it may no longer be rooted to the tree, it is rooted with love.  The earth is much more powerful than humans perceive it to be.  Nature is not just merely in existence.  Nature feels.  Nature loves.  When we weep, the earth is listening, the angels come near, and there are lessons to be told, not just through experience, but also by opening our senses to what surrounds us and enveloping our soul in the earth’s blessings.  It is up to you to let down your mental blocks, dismiss your fears, feel your spirit with each breath, and channel your mind’s focus and energy toward what is surrounding you at any given time.  This image, which so beautifully mirrors the transformation occurring in my own life, is a reminder that the nurturing environment in which we live is not to be taken for granted.  Love and peace are everywhere.  It is what we live and breathe.  Do not let the opinions and biases of the mind allow you to think otherwise.

As you use your heart as a driving force, and your mind as a sounding board, you will make your way through the waves. At times, it may feel effortless, the soft touch of the water against your skin. Smooth sailing, if you will; things going your way, fitting within your timeline, allowing you to feel instant gratification within the given circumstances. But then, there are seasons where the current pulls you out past your zone of comfort, causing a riff in the way you view things happening. Change ensues, and it is up to you to decide what direction the ocean will take you. Sometimes positive changes result in affliction, as odd as that may be. If you don’t deal with past hurts and only bury them, they are bound to resurface. The winding road is beautiful, though, and as these hurtful truths and self-realizations come into the light, you are able to gain a better appreciation for what you have, where you have been, and where you are headed. You see, the imperfections that make you who you are, are the most beautiful things about you, for if you had never endured those experiences, you wouldn’t be you. Embrace the changes, forgive yourself for your past, show gratitude for what you have and who you’ve become, and live a life of emotional prosperity. Be Free. Grab the reins of your own destiny, listen to the choir in your heart, make a home in a place that soothes your soul and enriches your blood. Feel your inner self, your true self, developing and transforming. Breathe in the air that surrounds you, ground yourself with the earth, allow your worldly love to transcend your body and make marks on the souls of those who you love, and those deserving of love. Be true to yourself and never, ever let anyone dim your light. Allow pain to be released, strength be regained, and the earnest truth of your soul and intuitive mission to progress forward. Be you, be your biggest advocate, be the one who makes your heart full. Love yourself, love God, and love all. Be an exemplar of what you wish to see, and shine light on others, just as it shines within you.

Breaking through the chains of conformity.

Music is freedom. No matter what the constraints, you can find your voice and express yourself creatively through music. I love it. I love the energy it brings, its ability to inspire not only yourself, but anyone who has the opportunity to listen. One type does not fit all, and what may touch the soul of one individual, one demographic, or provide someone with peace at one moment in time, may cause a significantly different emotional response for the next person or group. That’s the beauty of life, of choice, of individuality. Expression is our God given right. It’s not meant to fit a mold, nor is it finite. It’s limitless and ever-changing.

It’s interesting to see the love and acceptance that so many show for one another, and also the undeniable misunderstanding, or lack of desire to understand and relate, that still remains. If only everyone could learn to close their eyes, open their heart and let their soul experience the truth of existence, the love that every living being is meant to experience and radiate without the constraints of one’s ego.

What is of any significance, is what you feel with your soul. The beauty that surrounds us in nature can be enjoyed by all who choose to see it, just as the beauty that surrounds us in diversity can be enjoyed the same.
